    LOCAL UNION 111

    INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF ELECTRICAL WORKERS

    VINC PERRY-ELLIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

    Enclosed is the announcement of the IBEW, Local Union 111 Vinc Perry-Ellis Scholarship. There will be five (5) scholarships of $1,500 each for active members and for children or spouses of active members. (Members' dependents must be at least graduating high school seniors.)

    The following conditions will apply for each of these scholarships:

    1. All member applicants must be in good standing with Local Union 111 in order for them, their dependents or spouse to be eligible to apply.

    2. The applicant may select any accredited university, college or trade school of their choice.

    3. The applicant must furnish a photocopy of their latest grades with their application. The application must be accompanied with two letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, school principals, or employers.

    4. The application forms, letters of recommendation, essay, and grade transcript must be received in the Local Union 111 office on or before the close of business April 27, 2018. There will be no exceptions to this deadline rule.

    5. All applicants must submit an essay of 500 to 1500 words in length. This year’s topic is titled:

    "WHAT WOULD BE THE FAR REACHING EFFECTS FOR LABOR IN THE JANUS CASE PENDING IN THE SUPREME COURT?"

    All essays must be presented typed in12 point font and double spaced.

    6. All essays must contain the source of any resources or information cited.

    Applications will be available at Union meetings or picked up at the Union Hall beginning March 14, 2018. The above referenced guidelines will be strictly enforced.

    The Scholarship Committee of Local Union 111 will select the winners. Winners will be announced, notified, and invited by June 8, 2018, to attend the Executive Board Meeting on July 13, 2018. Checks will be payable to the recipient and the educational institution, and must be endorsed by both parties. Members may contribute to the scholarship fund directly or by the voucher system.
