It is with deep sadness that we announce Robert “Bob” Mason passed away on October 9, 2026.

Bob was initiated into the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local Union 111, on July 8, 1964, beginning a lifetime of dedication and service to the Brotherhood and the labor movement.

Throughout his distinguished career, Bob served on the Local 111 Executive Board and as Vice President of the Executive Board of the Denver Area Labor Federation. In August 1973 he was appointed Assistant Business Manager of IBEW, Local 111, in December of 1981, he was appointed Business Manager, and in 1983, he was elected Business Manager/Financial Secretary of IBEW Local 111—a position he held until his retirement in 2003.  His tenure remains the longest in Local 111’s history.

During his years as Business Manager/Financial Secretary, Bob made lasting contributions to the union’s growth and stability. He expanded the staff, reorganized the internal operations of the office, established a system of financial controls, revised the policy for investing union dues, and developed the Brotherhood Fund Organization to provide financial assistance to members facing times of need.

Bob’s leadership, dedication, and commitment to the membership helped strengthen Local 111 and establish a lasting legacy of service to the Brotherhood. His contributions will long be remembered and appreciated by the members whose lives and livelihoods he worked so diligently to support. He believed strongly in unionism and ensured that all members were fairly represented.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Bob’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. He will be remembered with respect, gratitude, and appreciation for his many years of service to the Brotherhood.
